Remote Shutdown Windows XP

You do not need to install 3rd party software to perform remote shutdown or restart a remote computer or server, you don’t even need to enable remote desktop, that’s right folks, using the sleek remote shutdown gui (graphical user interface) you will be able to shutdown or restart windows xp workstations or windows servers.

To perform remote shutdown you must have an administrative access to the computer and an account with the same username and password with the computer you are using to perform remote shutdown.

All set? Alright then, follow the instructions below.

Warning: In any case there are logged in users on your server(s), advise them first that you will going to restart or shutdown the server/workstation/computer else they won’t have a chance to save their work.

Remote Shutdown Dialog

1. Click run and type in “shutdown -i” (without quotes), you will be presented with a remote shutdown utility.

2. Click add and enter the ip address(es) of the remote computers you want to shutdown.

3. Enter the reason of shutting down and click ok.

If successful, the selected computers should commence the shutdown sequence, If not, check that you have sufficient access to perform remote shutdown.
